Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

 1. The second World War changed America in every way. It cast Americans as defenders of liberty worldwide.
2. There's tension between national security, national identity, free speech, individual rights.
3. The Supreme Court takes awhile to make a final decision.
World War II was to fight for civil right and civil liberties. People felt like they fought for freedom over there but didn't have freedom at home. The U.S was more democratic.
Freedom of speech because you can't say absolutely anything you want. You can't go around causing a riot or anything like that.
